Notecards from Children’s Drawings Make Great Gifts

These are fun gifts for your children to make to bring home for the parents or to give as gifts.  My children have made and brought these home different times of the year and I LOVE receiving them..  Have the children draw pictures inside of the frame throughout the month when you have some free time. At the end of the month have them fold the drawings into cards, wrap with cellophane paper,  and tie with a decorative ribbon.  They will be so proud!

Materials:

• child artist notecard template
• Pens, crayons, markers, ect. to decorate

Instructions:

1. Print out the child artist notecard template.
2. Fold the pictures into notecards by folding in half horizontally and then folding again vertically to form a quarter-folded card with the picture frame along the front.
3. Color pictures with crayons, markers or paints inside of the frame and collect at least 8.
4. Wrap with clear cellophane and tie with a ribbon.
5. Add artist information along the back.  Have your children write their name and the date.  Include a thumbprint if desired.
6. Have children give them away as gifts.

I love taking things that are old and turning them into something that is gorgeous! I was shopping at a thrift store the other day and noticed that they had an incomplete china set on sale for $1.50. Yes…there were 18 pieces in the set for $1.50. So I took the set home and made a dessert stand out of some of the pieces.

I used 6 pieces on this stand so I guess it cost about .60 to make this one. It looked great and was very simple to make!

Once complete, it would make a great inexpensive gift!

Supplies:

• Old plates and teacups
• Superglue

Instructions:

1. Simply stack one teacup on the biggest plate. The teacup can be upside down or right side up. Be creative.
2. Super glue the cup to the plate (watch out for your fingers…you don’t want to get super glue on anything but the cup).
3. Once dry, stack the smaller plate on top of the teacup and glue.
4. Add the next teacup.
5. Repeat until you are satisfied with your creation.

Here’s another one that I did out of black cups and plates. This one cost me about $1.00.

Here’s a fun and easy craft! Make a mobile for Mother’s Day and share all the reasons that you love your Mom.

Supplies:

• Paper
• Mom Mobile Craft template
• Coloring crayons, paint, or other embellishments
• String, scissors, hole puncher
• Wire clothes hanger

Directions:

1. Print the  Mom Mobile Craft template.
2. Color the hearts and mobile.
3. Add reasons why you love your mom on the hearts.
4. Cut out hearts and rectangle.
5. Past rectangle to front of hanger.
6. Punch a hole in the hearts and tie strings from hanger to the hearts.
7. Display on Mother’s Day!

Children love to create gifts! Here’s a template for a checkbook cover or coupon book.  Works well with Mother’s Day Coupons craft.

Supplies:

• Paper
• Checkbook/Coupon Book Cover Mom
• Coloring crayons, paint, or other embellishments

Instructions – Checkbook Cover:

1. Print out the Checkbook Cover template.
2. Cut along the solid lines. You can also reduce this image for smaller checkbooks, or cut inside of the lines to fit the cover.
3. Color the cover.
4. Paste on bank checkbook and laminate. These also go well with the pocket size monthly calendars.

Instructions – Coupon Book

1. Print out the Mom_Coupons template.
2. Cut along the solid lines.
3. Using 3 more sheets of paper, cut to fit inside of the checkbook cover.
4. Staple the sheets inside of the cover.
5. Color the cover.
6. Create coupons for mom to use anytime of the year! Some ideas include:Free toilet bowl cleaning (I’d like this one), room cleaning, no fighting,day, Free quiet time, etc.

It’s Easy to Say I Love You with this Cute Gift Idea!  Personalized with your child’s own handprint, this craft makes a great Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Valentine’s keepsake gift.

Supplies:

• Red construction paper
• Scissors
• Bowl
• Fillers like candy…yum!

Instructions:

1. Using red construction paper, trace your child’s hand.
2. Cut out handprint.
3. Glue onto bowl.
4. Decorate with ribbons and markers.
5. Add fillers such as paper, candy, etc.

Instead of giving out paper cards this Valentine’s Day, surprise your friends with your creativity! This heart felt notebook is sure to bring a smile to their faces!

Supplies:

• 3 – Pieces of felt or fabric approximately 8×8”
• 1 – Spool of ribbon
• 3 – Pieces of 8×11” paper
• Glue
• Glitter glue
• Scissors
• Hole Punch

Instructions:

1. Place one piece of felt on top of the other.
2. Cut a heart shape out of both pieces of felt and out of the paper.
3. Carefully cut 3 small holes in the felt, and punch 3 holes through the paper.
4. Place all pieces together and tie with the ribbon.
5. Using the remaining piece of felt, cut a smaller heart to use as an embellishment.
6. Glue the heart onto the front of the notebook.
7. Outline the small heart with glitter.
8. Write a special message inside and give it to your best friend (or your MOM!)!

These easy to make silhoutte crafts make beautiful keepsake gifts for the family – especially for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Valentine’s Day gifts.  They look very dramatic when cut out of black construction paper and framed.

Supplies:

• 1 – lamp
• 1 – piece of butcher paper or newspaper.
• Markers & a friend

Instructions:

1. Lightly tape the paper on the wall.
2. Point lamp towards paper.
3. Have a friend stand in front of the lamp (or you may use an object)
4. Trace the silhouette.
5. Decorate w/markers!

Note:  These look especially nice just traced on black construction paper and framed.

Here’s one just for Mom.  Color, paint, or add stickers – this book is sure to bring a smile to her face  Isn’t it fun to create a moment remembered for a lifetime?

2. Cut along the solid lines.
3. Color the book.
4. Staple the end for binding.

These early years are such precious times and fly by so fast.  Here’s a poem that can put it in better words than I ever could.  and coupled with your child’s handprint it makes a perfect keepsake gift for someone special.  Great for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Valentine’s Day, or just because!

Supplies:

• 1 – Paper plate
• 1 –Paint (any color)
• Decorating items such as glitter, sequence, or pasta

Instructions:

1. Place hand in paint.
2. Place hand on paper plate to make a handprint.
3. Let dry.
4. Write the poem below on the plate.
5. Decorate.
6. Give to mom.

I miss you when your not with me

I’m growing up so fast

See how big and tall I’ve grown

Since you have seen me last?

As I grow, I’ll change so much,

The years will fly right by.

You’ll wonder how I grew up so quick
