1 16 ounce coffee cup

8” piece of cardboard or dvd case

Instructions
1.
To make the body,
wrap yarn around an 8" piece of cardboard approximately 100 times.
2.
Cut an 8" piece of
yarn and slide it under wrapped yarn that is on one side of the cardboard.
Tie tightly into a double knot.
3.
Turn the cardboard
over and cut completely through the yarn on this side. The yarn will not be
attached to the cardboard.
4.
To make the arms -
poke two holes on each side of the coffee cup, and slide two green pipe
cleaners through the holes.
5.
To make the
antennas - poke one hole through the bottom of the coffee cup. Bend the
other two pipe cleaners in half and slide them through the hole.
6.
Place the coffee
cup upside down on newspaper.
7.
Cover the bottom
and sides of the coffee cup with tacky glue.
8.
Place the yarn on
the bottom of the coffee cup so that the double knot is aligned with the
center of the cup. The yarn should fall to the sides of the cup like hair.
9.
Make sure that the
antennas and arms are visible and smooth out the yarn as you glue it to the
cup.
10.
Cut hands and feet
out of the green foam piece. The feet can even be made to look like slime.
11.
Glue the feet and
hands to the Martian.
12.
Attach pompoms to
the antennas with glue, or simply wrap the pipe cleaner around the pompom.
13.
Glue on eyes.
14.
Display for all to
see!
